WHAT?S IT LIKE? Nautical but definitely nice! Moored in Royal Victoria Docks right next to the Exel Exhibition Centre, this sleek mega-yacht is almost tardis-like in its proportions. As well as the generously-sized cabins with windows or balconies overlooking Docklands there?s also a swish bar and light, airy restaurant and even spa therapy rooms for a facial, massage or manicure.
ROOMS ANY GOOD? So much bigger than I was expecting! This is a luxury yacht and the size and finish of the rooms was a surprise - a huge king-size bed, comfy sofa and coffee table area as well as desk and mini-bar. My executive room had a balcony as well as compact bathroom with power shower and posh toiletries.
EAT HERE OR GRAB A PIZZA? Definitely sample the restaurant delights. If, like me, you were heading out to the nearby O2 for a concert or event, the Sunborn?s new Under The Sea afternoon tea is the perfect start to a special trip, served up daily from 12.30pm to 5pm. A new partnership with cool cupcake kings, the Hummingbird Bakery, delights include choux pastry shells, macarons and a selection of cupcakes with frosting in the shape of sea horses, anchors, star fish, lighthouses, shells and yachts as well as sandwiches, scones and of course, tea.
WHAT ELSE? The hotel?s base right in the centre of Docklands makes it perfect for those going to the O2 - stroll along to the Emirates Airline, just a few minutes from the yacht, and soar above the Thames to reach the venue. It?s also right next door to Excel for those attending exhibitions and on the DLR for quick trips into London.
SO YOU?D GO BACK? Definitely! The yacht hotel is definitely a different way to stay in the capital.
