The latest design to come from the drawing boards of renowned designer Luiz de Basto is the Top Deck 40M, a striking 40 metre superyacht concept that emphasises blurring the lines between indoor/outdoor living with dramatic open spaces.
The fold down bulwarks increase the deck surface by an impressive total of 26.6 metres, epitomising the aforementioned emphasis on maintaining constant contact with the water inside and out.
The flybridge extends the entire length of the vessel, with a sweeping line from bow to stern creating impressively spacious headroom on the aft deck. The upper part of the flybridge is covered with a hardtop, ensuring that guests may make the most of al fresco dining in shade from the sun, or in the open air. A hot tub surrounded with sun loungers are found forward.
She accommodates up to 12 guests on the main deck over four staterooms as well as a VIP cabin. A crew of eight are also accommodated for on board. The owner?s suite is located at the very heart of the vessel on the bridge deck, though prospective owners are offered the opportunity to relocate the suite to best suit their individual needs and desires. Lateral glass doors slide out of view in this area with the aft doors folding against the structure to reveal a private veranda.
Elsewhere inside, floor-to-ceiling windows in the main saloon slide forward and disappear into a pocket, with the bulwarks on the main deck also folding down to extend the deck area.
The studio comments, ?It?s easy to see why we are excited about this design. The indoor-outdoor boundaries disappear and sharing nature with family and friends is the real accomplishment. This is a perfect example of how design can impact the yachting lifestyle for the better.?
