The Fjord 48 Open is the largest model to carry the Norwegian marque and it promises hair-raising performance.
Fjord has put its largest ever model into production and revealed details of its specification ahead of its launch at the 2015 Dusseldorf Boat Show (17-25 January).
The Fjord 48 Open features a Patrick Banfield-designed hull and a high freeboard for added safety at sea.
Those on board may feel grateful for that, as the 48 Open will come powered by up to three IPS 600 engines, giving a total power of 1,305hp and a top speed in excess of 40 knots.
Finishing touches include teak decks, an optional high-low bathing platform and a wide choice of ?extravagant? hull colours.
The cockpit can be fitted with a choice of tables or left bare to allow for tender storage. Below decks, Fjord 48 Open owners will find two en-suite cabins.
The Fjord Open range is designed for primarily Mediterranean use, but a small number of UK imports will be made available through brokerage firm Inspiration Marine. Prices are unconfirmed, but expected to be around the ?500,000 mark.
What we can be sure of, though, is a high standard of build quality, as Fjord is built in Germany by Hanse Group ? the current owners of Sealine.
Hanse also confirmed that a 56ft Fjord model is also in development, but it won?t see a full production run until 2016 at the earliest.
