If you?ve still never watched ?Jaws?... don?t start now. Scott Kearnan writes a short and amusing post on the new way to shark dive in Australia. Have a read and let us know if you would get in the Aqua Sub!
Visitors to South Australia now have a new way of getting up close and pee-your-pants personal with monsters of the deep: the ?Aqua Sub,? an innovative shark diving contraption now in use by tour operator Adventure Bay Charters.
No wetsuit? No oxygen tank? No fear? No problem.
Scott Kearnan described The Aqua Sub to be a 'six-seat extension of Adventure Bay?s boat that slices down into the ocean water like a semi-submerged piece of Tupperware'. Guests climb down a ladder and enjoy a glass-enclosed 360-degree view of Great White infested waters off Neptune Island, located two-and-a-half hours off the coast of Oz?s Eyre Peninsula.
It?s totally safe, and you can always climb out quickly if the sharks start tapping a bit too ferociously at your underwater ?window.? Plus you?ll be able to watch your fellow (cough ? braver!) passengers who opt for the more traditional shark cage experience, perhaps emboldening yourself to take an even bigger plunge next time.
Then again, sequels don?t always live up to the first experience anyway. Right, ?Jaws 2??
Rates for a trip on the ?Shark Warrior? begin at USD $406 for adults and USD $316 for a child. Adventure Bay Charters will not be responsible for the subsequent night terrors your children develop.
