At the latest edition of the Dubai International Boat Show at the beginning of this year, a 90 metre superyacht concept from Dutch shipyard Oceanco in collaboration with Van Geest Design and Temeloy Advanced Lighting Design certainly caused a ripple of excitement throughout the industry.
Featuring a revolutionary lighting display on the side of her hull, development of the concept didn?t stop there for the team involved and today Van Geest Design has revealed to SYT the latest innovations on board. This predominantly consists of the advancement of her lighting technology, and the ability to project real-time landscapes onto the side of the boat.
Named Moonstone, Van Geest Design shed light on what the dynamic team have been working on since she was first introduced three months ago: ?All these technologies have been thoroughly tested before integrating them in the build package. It is not a mere design. Moonstone is an Oceanco project which can be built, today. Initially developed with white lighted facets, giving us the challenge to develop an even lighted surface right to the triangular point and integrating these surfaces on either sides of the hull, the logical evolution for Moonstone is to be color.
?The powerful color impact is built in Moonstone?s design for one to curate an ongoing experience with the yacht as a medium. It can be video art to series of images and lighted surfaces, from plain colors to underwater scenes, from vibrant kaleidoscopes to camouflage settings. The possibilities are endless on board and from ashore.?
With different moods and ambiances able to be controlled by just the touch of a finger on a smartphone or tablet, the unique light display would no doubt be a spectacular feat to watch.
