News is out that the luxury yacht maker Palmer Johnson will be closing its doors at Sturgeon Bay soon.

Palmer Johnson Yachts says the company?s operations and employment have been diminishing along with its sales. Additional offshore competition also put pressure on the company. The company says these factors forced it to make the decision to close.

At the same time, they decided to focus on the new carbon composite SuperSport series of yachts.

Following a remarkable interest in the SuperSport range, the company will thus gain significant competitive advantages by constructing their next generation of yachts in Europe, an agreement to take over a shipyard in the Netherlands has just been finalized.
