Xavi has donated his personal yacht to a non-government charity organisation in order to help refugees travelling across the Mediterranean Sea.
The ex-Barcelona midfielder gave his vessel to Proactiva Open Arms. The yacht is to be auctioned off to raise funds to help the POA continue with their rescue work.
The POA, from Barcelona, works along the Greek coast in Lesvos and it covers 17 kilometres by land and sea.
'The soccer player Xavi Hernandez collaborates with Proactiva Open Arms with the donation of a recreational craft to be auctioned in the near future,' the charity said via their social media channels Twitter and Facebook.
'He was introduced to our work a while ago and decided to donate his yacht to obtain more resources in order to ensure the permanence of the mission.
'Thank you, Xavi, gestures like yours, will save many lives.'
The Barcelona legend, who now plays his football in Qatar for Al Sadd, won eight La Liga titles and four Champions League titles with the Catalan giants.
Xavi also won a further 13 trophies with the club, during his 17-year spell.
Xavi's impressive trophy haul doesn't stop there. He was instrumental during Spain's winning Euro 2008 and 2012 campaign and their 2014 World Cup victory.
