Sometimes when you look way back in history you can stumble upon some amazing things, and this also happens in the boating history.
Today, we?re taking a step back to take a glance to an oldie boat that looks like the boat of the future, ?the flying yacht?.
This beauty is from 1950, YES 1950!! You can call it like you want to, a flying yacht, an amphibious plane or why someone is not funding this? Either way it?s truly amazing!
The photographs below are from LIFE veteran Loomis Dean, and the boat is one of the most versatile airplanes used in the Second World War.
After the boat was done fighting people and army?s, an entrepreneur called Glenn Odekirk found another use for the ?Catalinas? as a luxurious flying yacht, and the boat became the epitome of glamorous travel that he called Landseaire.
Today, the boat cost roughly tops $2.5 million.
