Delta 88 IPS

The Mythical Scandinavian Yacht – Delta 88 IPS

The philosophy of slowly building boats, which in the end produces a long lasting and  environment-friendly boat is the core value of the Delta powerboats company. Founded in 2003, Delta Powerboats is Scandinavia’s fastest growing boat company today. Over 300 boats in 10 different categories have been produced by the company in its first 10 years of existence. These boats garnered recognition for the company as a leading boat designer in Scandinavia which focuses on restructuring and feasibility. Boats that the company offers are sustainable, economical, well built and secure. Delta Company has another accolade to its name; it is the industry leader in boat fuel economy. With all the mentioned characteristics, it is evident that Delta Powerboats builds boats for people who are looking for a balance between various factors, from performance and a green approach to technology and design. One thing is clear, boats from this company are built to last and offer great performance and safety. The Delta 88 review below illustrates the main points of their new boat.

The Delta 88 is the pinnacle of Delta’s all carbon line of yachts, in essence, it is a semi-custom expressed yacht capable of 37 knots and boasts beautiful modern and comfortable interiors to a total of 8 guests. Four cabins can be located on the lower deck including a VIP cabin and a full beam master cabin. On the main deck, there is an open saloon, dining area, galley and wheelhouse. The Delta 88 is equipped with triple Volvo Penta IPS 1200 diesel giving the boat an impressive maximum speed of 37 knots and a cruising speed of 20 knots. Is the Delta 88 price justified for what it has to offer? Let us dive into more details in this Delta 88 review to prove it to you.

A 26-metre yacht which was in development for over 2 years and built out of carbon, it has the characteristic Scandinavian design and all materials inside the boat are genuine. Helm position onboard the boat is the first stand out feature. The first thing which catches one’s eye are the three fantastic seats clad in leather with the Delta sign embroidered, dipped in brown tones. The middle seat can be moved electronically so that the captain can move closer to the steering wheel and have the joystick close by which can be used to control the yacht. The instrument table is furnished with modern technology; there are three big screens which are 15 inches and show all the necessary information. There is enough space for an iPad which is integrated into the left side of the instrument table and this is great for chart apps. To the left side of the helm station is a comfortable sofa and a small fridge.

Behind the helm is the spectacular saloon which is incredibly luminescent, the glass runs all around the wheelhouse and there are two skylights which can be opened when needed. The design of the saloon is simple, however, very comfortable giving a spacious feel to anyone who sets foot in the saloon. On the left-hand side is a bar behind which there are various cabinets for storage, large fridge, a built-in oven and stove along with a basin and faucet; a real working galley. Opposite the bar is a dining table with 6 chairs. Two lounging areas with crème coloured couches and small coffee tables in front of them are present at the far end of the wheelhouse. Double glass doors open out to the cockpit.

Above the flybridge helm is an open space with three seats in front of which is the steering wheel with a smaller instrument table, compared with the one below. Again, we have three screens which show an adequate amount of information for the captain. Though there are three seats, 4 people can comfortably sit in the helm station since one of the seats is elongated. Behind the seats is a lounging area with a C-shaped couch and a table dividing the sides. All the guests can be placed in this area for comfortable cruising and socialising. A bimini sun protection covers the lounging area which can avert some weather conditions. A small wet bar is present with a cooler box, basin with a faucet and low cabinets for storage. Flybridge aft, behind the lounge area, is basically a sun deck option for those wishing to sunbathe. Stainless steel railing encircles the entire flybridge area.

The master cabin below offers a quirky solution to the entire master cabin paradigm. The bed is quite big and low, comfortable and dipped in crème colours like most of the furniture on the yacht. There is plenty of light that comes through two windows on the left side of the bed; there are two windows on the opposite side as well. A central partition in the room is present as well as storage boxes, but more importantly, it is the place where the TV’s live. A pull-up mechanism raises two-sided TV units, one for each side so that the TV can be watched from the bed. The other side is meant for the cosy separate lounge area inside the room. This area has a couch and a coffee table. This is a type of private area for the owner which is secluded from the rest of the ship. Next to the lounge area is a full walk in wardrobe with lots of shelving space and plenty of room for hanging clothes. The bathroom which belongs to the master cabin is quite large with a proper toilet and shower in their respective angles.

The VIP cabin forward sporting a large bed and a lot of light represents a very good room for all those wishing some privacy from the other guests. Opposite the bed, on the wall, is a large wall mounted LCD TV. On the right-hand side of the room is a wardrobe space with a lot of cabinets and storage space which is basically copied over to the opposite side with a small sitting space right next to the bed. The VIP bathroom is a bit smaller than the one in the master cabin, however, it is no less usable with all the necessities one bathroom can need; a lot of light and a separate shower.

Two guest cabins are basically identical with side by side beds and a bunk bed on the right-hand side of the room, storage space and a bathroom with a toilet and shower in a very small space.

Above the cockpit area houses a comfortable couch, coffee table and four chairs-basically a separate lounge area which can be reached through the glass door from the saloon area. A separate wet bar is present at the cockpit area with a washbasin and faucet. Underneath this area is the bow lounge area with a c-shaped couch and a table which is in the middle. In front of the lounge area is space with a mattress type area which can be used for sunbathing.

The stern of the boat offers some interesting features. The opaque hydraulic bathing section which is present is the most prominent feature which can be remote controlled. With the press of a button, the opaque section is folded down into the water. It includes steps which lead to the submerged platform, great for swimming off or retrieving someone who has gone overboard. This section can be used for launching a tender. This yacht has a full-blown tender garage which houses a Williams tender.

The laundry room is also located below along with the captain’s cabin and the crew mess hall. Washing machine and a dryer are both present along with a toilet and a wash basin with a faucet. The storage room is close by and is basically an additional extension of the boat which can store various type of equipment offering ease during longer voyages.

As stated earlier the engine room is adorned by triple Volvo Penta IPS 1200 diesel engines which offer an incredible top speed of 37 knots with a fuel consumption which is 30% less than the competition. When cruising at the speed of 20 knots the consumption is 8.5 litres per nautical mile. The Delta 88 price is easily accepted once the details of consumption are familiar and one can easily save on fuel consumption.

Whether you’re looking for the top of the line boat or you simply enjoy a great yacht, the Delta 88 seems to have all the necessary qualities one would desire - Scandinavian design, impeccable longevity, modern equipment, great spatial solutions, comfort and best of all a green approach to the entire paradigm of yachting. Smooth sailing with low noise and emission output are guaranteed on this charter party roundhouse. The Delta 88 review showed us some of the amazing features of this one of a kind yacht which was in development for over two years.
