Princess has two main values: quality and heritage, and these are factors that you can easily see in every single model they create, today we’re going to explore the Princess V48 Open, an option from the Princess V48. Make sure to check out that review if you prefer that option.

Let’s start with the deck. This area features teak-laid transom platform, cockpit deck and stairs to side decks, reversible electric anchor winch with foredeck and helm position controls, self-stowing 20kg/44lbs Delta anchor with 40m of chain, stainless steel cleats, fairleads and handrails, a foredeck rope locker and a remote control searchlight.

The V48 Open model also features an electro-hydraulic bathing platform as standard, aft sun pad and tender garage (up to 3.5m), large seating area aft with fixed teak table, electrically operated canvas sun roof, wet bar including sink, cooler box and storage with optional barbecue, L-shaped seating opposite the helm and sliding door to lower accommodation

Let’s move to the cockpit, a nice and luxurious area which features seating with a folding teak table. There is a transom gate leading to the bathing platform with electro- hydraulic raise/lower mechanism, a foldaway swimming ladder, hot and cold shower, and transom hatch to stern lazarette. This space also includes a liferaft storage locker, a locker housing 240v shore support inlet, locker with remote fuel cocks, the cockpit cover and storage locker for 2 gas bottles.

Next, we move to the Helm Position where we find twin helm seats with bolster and an electric opening helmsman’s window. There is full engine instrumentation including fuel gauges, engine controls and rudder position indicator with navigation system including color radar, GPS and chart plotter, VHF/RT, speed and distance log, echo sounder with alarm, autopilot and high speed magnetic compass. To make sure you’re empowered while cruising, it includes controls for windscreen wipers, bilge pump, anchor winch and trim tabs with indicator, a chart table, and remote control searchlight.

This model does not include a Deck saloon but a Lower Saloon, with a comfortable seating area with table and the option of conversion to double berth or third cabin, 24v and 220/240v electrical control panels, storage lockers and an MP3 Stereo with saloon and cockpit speakers.

The Galley features a 3-zone ceramic hob standard and a microwave/conventional oven combination with grill. It also includes a refrigerator with freezer compartment, a waste bin, storage for cupboards, drawers and lockers and some under-floor storage.

Let’s move to the Cabin’s area. The Owner’s Stateroom features a large double bed with drawers below, wardrobe with shelves, a comfortable sofa with dressing table, storage lockers and drawers, overhead and individual berth lights, and an en-suite bathroom.

The Forward Guest Cabin has a large double bed with drawers below (and the option of scissor berths), a wardrobe with shelf, storage lockers, a deck hatch with integrated skylight and blind, overhead and individual berth lights, and an en-suite bathroom with day access.

All cabins feature opening portholes and 220/240v power points, all mattresses pocket sprung. The bathrooms also feature opening portholes and full shower stalls, electric quiet flush toilets, extractor fan and 240v shaver points

For the furniture, you can choose between a Serotina Cherry and Light Oak with satin or high gloss finish. American Walnut or Rovere Oak are also available as options. All the worktops and tiled floors in all bathrooms are made in avonite, the same with the galley worktop and timber-laid floor. There are curtains, blinds or sunscreens in all windows and portholes.

This Princess V48 Open is powered by two Twin Volvo IPS 600 (2 x 435mhp).

Its power and drive systems features a twin Volvo IPS-600 with joystick control, Volvo active corrosion protection system, power-assisted electronic steering system with hydraulic backup, an electronic engine and gear shift control, and an engine room extractor fan.

Its fuel system includes twin fuel tanks (in NS8 marine grade alloy) with interconnection system giving a 291 gal/350 US gal/1,325l capacity and fuel fillers on port and starboard side decks with high capacity fuel filters or water traps.

And its water system consists of an 80 gal/96 US gal/364l plus 11 gal/13 US gal/50l  hot water calorifier and heated by engine and 240v immersion heater, water level gauge, and deck filler.

Its hull material is pure fiberglass, which withstands harsh marine environments with ease!

It has a L.O.A. of 50ft 10in (15.49m) a beam of 13ft 6in (4.11m) and a draft of 3ft 9in (1.14m). Its fuel capacity is 291 gal/350 US gal/1,325l and its water capacity is 80 gal/96 US gal/364l.
